What a year! Beautiful spring, nice summer beginning and... boom! (Thunder) More wildfires than we can remember in a long time. Heavy smoke at times, orange moon, maroon sun. We were safe but hard to see across the creek at times... We're hoping that 2025 brings clear air, regular rainfall and lots of good fishing in the Middle Fork!

Since 1947, The Morgan Ranch has been the summer home for the Morgan family.

Built by doctors Ben and Freda Morgan, the ranch features a 2600' grass airfield, comfortable log lodge, natural hot spring bathing pool and a glorious spring-fed swimming pool. Sulphur Creek runs through the front yard and meets the Middle Fork of the Salmon River nearby. The lovely guest house includes a large stone fireplace, bathroom and sleeping  for seven. For your visit, it'll be only your group here.

Guest Quarters

The A-Frame Chalet opens onto a seating deck and the natural spring cool pool. Downstairs is the master bedroom with stone fireplace, bath and pull-out couch. Upstairs are sleeping areas for up to five.  Just outside the upstairs backdoor is another bathroom. All only steps away from the hot spring pool.

You'll love the perfect temperature of the outdoor hotspring shower. It's called "El Caracol" for its spiral shape.

As we are a private home, we can only accomodate seven guests per overnight visit. You should be family or good friends! You'll love the intimate setting, the history and Mary Dee's lovingly prepared meals.  208-715-6034 or morganranch47@gmail.com

OUR SERVICES

The Main House

Begun in 1947, the main house was constructed of vertical logs. Dr. Freda's father, a plumber, laid out the grid of iron pipe on the dirt floor for radiant hot spring heat. Then the concrete floors were poured. Walls came next and finally, wiring and windows. Everything was flown into Sulphur Creek Ranch and freighted down to Morgan's on wagons with teams of horses.

You'll love the big fireplace, comfortable living room with a rope swing, Mary Dee's kitchen with wood cook stove and family seating around the big Lazy Susan table.

GUEST REVIEW

Doctor Freda was the smartest woman we know. She became an anesthesiologist as a very young doctor, following in Dr. Ben's footsteps. She learned to shoot, fish, garden, fly airplanes and cook. She collected stamps, flowers, coins and music. Played piano and guitar and kept a greenhouse at the ranch for fresh flowers and tomatoes. She died in 2002.

Our fire, August 29, 2021. Massive!

The fire was horrific, dramatic, overwhelming... and gone! Regeneration is amazing. 2022 gave us a very wet spring which produced lots of grass and regrowth. Softened the blow.
